Introducing M.Tech. in Heat and Power Engineering

The Department of Mechanical Engineering proudly announces the commencement of the Master of Technology (M.Tech.) program in Heat and Power Engineering from the academic year 2024–25.

Our department boasts a team of highly qualified and dedicated faculty members with advanced degrees from prestigious institutions such as IITs and NITs. Their strong academic background, research contributions, and innovative teaching methodologies provide a solid foundation for academic and professional growth.

We offer modern infrastructure with state-of-the-art classrooms, advanced laboratories, thermal and fluid mechanics labs, model rooms, and other essential facilities to foster an effective and immersive learning environment.

M.Tech. in Heat and Power Engineering

It is my pleasure to welcome you to the M.Tech. program in Heat and Power Engineering, a specialized postgraduate program under the Department of Mechanical Engineering. This program is designed for aspiring engineers who wish to deepen their expertise in thermal sciences and energy systems — areas that are central to the sustainable development of our global infrastructure.

In today's world, the demand for efficient, clean, and renewable energy technologies is growing rapidly. Our M.Tech. program addresses this need by offering a rigorous curriculum that covers advanced topics in thermodynamics, heat transfer, fluid mechanics, combustion, power plant engineering, and emerging areas such as renewable energy systems and energy management.

Our department is equipped with state-of-the-art laboratories, simulation tools, and testing facilities to give students hands-on experience in solving complex thermal and energy-related problems.

The M.Tech. in Heat and Power not only prepares students for rewarding careers in industries such as power generation, oil and gas, HVAC, automotive, and energy consultancy, but also lays a strong foundation for those inclined toward research and higher studies.

1.	Heat Transfer Lab	The Heat and Mass Transfer Lab is a vital part of the mechanical engineering curriculum. This well-equipped lab includes calibrated instruments that allow students to comprehend the fundamental concepts of the three modes of heat transfer: conduction, convection, and radiation. Some of the primary pieces of equipment in the Heat Transfer Lab are the Thermal Conductivity of Insulating Powder Apparatus, Thermal Pin-Fin Apparatus, Vertical Tube Losing Heat under Natural Convection, Emissivity Measurement Apparatus, Stefan Boltzmann Apparatus, Parallel and Counter Flow Heat Exchanger, and Two-Phase Heat Transfer Unit, among others.
